AM I A CANDIDATE FOR DENTAL BONDING?

To determine if you are a candidate for dental bonding, you will need to visit our office for a consultation. During your consultation, Dr. Cavanaugh or a member of his dental team will assess your teeth, discuss your cosmetic goals, and address any underlying oral health concerns.

The results of your examination will help us determine if dental bonding or another cosmetic solution is right for you. Depending on your cosmetic goals or for areas with extensive damage or discoloration, we may recommend porcelain veneers, tooth whitening, or dental crowns.

THE DENTAL BONDING PROCESS

We will begin tooth bonding treatment by applying a local or topical anesthetic to ensure that the affected area is numb. We will lightly remove a bit of enamel from the affected tooth to create an adequate bonding surface for the composite resin. Once the teeth are prepared, we will carefully mold the composite resin into the desired shape.

After the desired shape is reached, the resin is cured using a special light. To achieve a natural finish, we will gently polish the tooth. The composite resin we use is color-matched so that it blends with your existing teeth.

Caring for a bonded tooth is similar to caring for the natural teeth. Be sure to maintain a healthy oral hygiene routine and schedule regular visits to the dentist. With proper care and maintenance, a bonded tooth can last up to 10 years.
